Astrology - Science and Art
The science of astrology is not a complete mystery to me. I have amused myself for many years with the little quips that you find in your local newspaper. Sometimes they are relevant, sometimes not. Since I have applied my intuition to whether to look or not, I'll check it on certain days knowing that it will be applicable to my life that day. That way, it is always right.
During a stay with friends south of Montreal, I came upon a book on astrological influences. This was a bit of a different approach since it was a modern scientific study of the alignment of the planets, moon and stars and their magnetic influence at the time of our conception all the way through to birth. Psychological profiles were developed using the categories of the traditional astrological signs. Patterns definitely emerged. There were apparent character strengths and behavioral weaknesses that fell right in line with the birth 'categories'. What used to be frivolous entertainment took on greater meaning for me after being exposed to this study!
One Saturday at the library, upon our first encounter, a young aboriginal man that I came to know as Alan introduced me to a set of books on astrology. I took 'mine' home and read every word. I was floored. There I was layed out in full view including what I considered the attributes that needed to be strengthened. By the time I read this material, I had already done the work to deal with the areas that had resulted in challenges in my life. I was receiving confirmation that I had covered everything. Amazing!
So now I listen to Nicole's guest Kim Marie as I write. I find that I have a new respect for the art. Now I am calling it an art. The vocabulary is more familiar to me now altho' I still can't follow it very well. I get more out of it when the astrologer speaks english and leaves the planets out of it. I think I am still in kindergarden with this stuff. I will not likely ever rely on it for more than entertainment as long as I am seeing my future on my own.
